BLACK FOREST CAKE


 Black forest cake is a delicious dessert made with layers of chocolate sponge cake and sandwiched with whipped cream and cherry syrup. Finally, we can decorate with whipped cream, some cherries, and some chocolate shavings.

It is based on the german dessert 'schewazwalder kirschtorte'.

This cake might look difficult for beginners like me, but I promise you, this is one of the easiest cakes which can make at home with easily available ingredients.

The easy and super moist black forest cake is a perfect dessert for any special occasion.



HOMEMADE BLACK FOREST CAKE

NOTES

1. If you do not have an oven, you can bake this cake in a pressure cooker, you can follow the same steps. 

2. You can use sugar syrup only instead of the cherry sugar syrup. 

3. Place the beater attachment and the bowl (  for whipping) into the refrigerator for 30 minutes before beating the whipping cream. 

INGREDIENTS.

FOR CHOCOLATE CAKE

1 cup of all-purpose flour[maida].

2 tablespoons of dark cocoa powder.

3/4 cup of powdered sugar.

1/2 teaspoon of baking soda.

1  teaspoon of baking powder.

1 teaspoon of vanilla essence.

1 tablespoon of cornflour.

2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.

2 tablespoons of milk.[If needed]

1 teaspoon of lemon juice.

1/2 teaspoon of salt.

3 Eggs.


FOR SYRUP.

1/2 cup of sugar.

1 cup of water.

2 tablespoons of crushed cherries.


FOR FROSTING 

Powdered sugar

1 1/2 cup whipped cream[chilled]

12 nos Cherries 

A chocolate bar for chocolate shavings.[Use a vegetable peeler to make the chocolate shavings].


HOW TO MAKE THE BLACK FOREST CAKE.


STEP 1: Grease and line the cake pan with butter and dust with some flour.  Preheat the oven 170 degrees C for 10 minutes. 


STEP 2: Sieve the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together in a mixing bowl [3 times].


STEP 3:Take 3 eggs in a large mixing bowl, add vanilla essence, and sugar. Beat with an electric beater till it becomes fluffy. Then add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and beat for a minute.


STEP 4: Now add the sieved dry ingredients [flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder, cornflour, salt.] and fold gently, add 1teaspoon of lemon juice.If the mixture is too dry add the 2 tablespoons of milk and mix well.

Pour this batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 30 minutes at 170 degrees C or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan to cool completely.


STEP 5: Mix the sugar, water, and crushed cherries and boil on medium heat until thickened. Add vanilla essence. Make sure that the syrup should cool completely before using it.


STEP 6: In a large mixing bowl take the whipping cream and powdered sugar [The amount of sugar depends on the sweetness of the whipping cream]. Whip with an electric beater until stiff peaks form.

STEP 7: With a long knife split the cake horizontally into three layers. Keep all the three layers separately. Brush the cake slices with the sugar and cherry syrup gently. This will make the cake moist. 

STEP 8: Now take 2 tablespoons of whipped cream and spread on the cake table. Then place the first slice on it, brush with the syrup (sugar cherry syrup), spread some whipped cream with a spatula over the cake surface. 

Place the second layer of the cake on the top and repeat the same procedure. 

Then place the third layer on the top and press gently with your palm. Take the whipped cream and spread evenly all over the cake to cover it from top and sides. Decorate with cherries and chocolate shavings. 

Refrigerate for 2 hours. The yummy Black forest cake is ready.
